In the Umbrian hills near Passignano sul Trasimeno, this historic castle property brings together a sandstone watchtower, the remains of a walled castle and panoramic views across its elevated setting. Its origins are uncertain, though the principal part of the building is thought to date to the 11th or 12th century; the enclosing walls are documented as having been restored in 1313. The castle is surrounded by 6,500 square metres of land, planted as an olive grove. This measured setting gives the architecture a fitting foreground, with the hilltop views forming a constant presence beyond the walls.

Passignano sul Trasimeno is closely connected with the history of Lake Trasimeno and the wider cultural geography between Umbria and Tuscany.
