Castle for sale in Gaiole in Chianti, Tuscany, Italy

In the heart of Chianti Classico, within the ancient fortified hamlet of Vertine, we offer for sale a rare medieval castle to restore, with approximately 1,300 sqm of total built area and 3 hectares of land including gardens, a panoramic swimming pool, olive grove and woodland. The property consists of the main castle, measuring approximately 700 sqm, an independent cottage set within the garden, a former deconsecrated chapel currently used as an atelier, additional accessory spaces and a garage. The castle is arranged over several levels and preserves the authentic charm of a historic Tuscan residence, with spacious reception rooms, fireplaces, a library, living areas, kitchen, double bedrooms with private bathrooms and a striking tower with panoramic terrace overlooking the Chianti hills.

One of the most distinctive features of the property is the former deconsecrated chapel, an impressive space of approximately 250 sqm with a height of around 7 metres, ideal as an atelier, private gallery, music room, library, wellness area, cultural space or representative hall. In addition, a further basement atelier of approximately 190 sqm offers additional flexibility of use. Within the garden there is an independent cottage of approximately 90 sqm, ideal for guests, family members, staff or potential hospitality use.

The outdoor areas include landscaped gardens, a panoramic swimming pool, olive grove and woodland, creating a private and highly scenic setting. The property also benefits from two independent entrances, one from the village and one from the castle garden, as well as a garage and private parking. Castello di Vertine represents a unique opportunity for those seeking a prestigious historic residence in Tuscany, a private home of great character, an artistic or cultural retreat, or a boutique hospitality project in one of Italy’s most iconic and desirable regions.
