Blackwater Castle

Blackwater Castle is a 12th-century castle in Castletownroche, Co. Cork, Ireland, on a rocky promontory overlooking the River Awbeg. The castle includes earlier fortifications, 17th-century renovations, a Norman tower, a Sheela na Gig carving and the Holy Well of St. Patrick. Around it is a 50-acre estate with mature woodlands, a private river stretch, a walled garden, a terrace and indoor and outdoor event areas.

Multiple reception rooms, a bar and the converted 17th-century Coach House provide spaces for gatherings and banquets. Nine suites in the castle accommodate 23 guests, while garden apartments and dormitories in the Courtyard accommodate a further 47, for a total guest capacity of 70. Facilities include parking, catering, accommodation, garden and park areas, and views over the surrounding grounds. Blackwater Castle hosts weddings, private parties, corporate events, retreats, photoshoots and receptions. Activities listed include zip-lining, falconry, fishing, hiking and historical tours.
