Overview

Hedingham Castle is a Norman fortress in Halstead, in the Castle Hedingham area of the United Kingdom, on the Essex-Suffolk border. Built around 1140 by Aubrey de Vere, the first Earl of Oxford, it stands within a privately owned estate with gardens, parkland and a lake.

Event spaces include the Banqueting Hall, with a stone arch rising through two levels; the Georgian House, with lawns beside the lake; and the Ballroom Marquee. Ceremonies may be held in the Castle, outdoors overlooking the lake, or at the nearby medieval Church of St. Nicholas. Landscaped gardens, ancient ramparts, a Tudor bridge and a formal pond provide settings for outdoor events and photoshoots. Accommodation includes the Garden Cottage for bridal preparations, the Medieval Lodge for up to 17 guests, the Royal Chamber in the Castle and the Castle Bothy shepherd's hut with a wood-fired hot tub. Hedingham Castle can host up to 200 guests and offers parking, catering, wifi, indoor and outdoor spaces, a chapel, lake, park and views. Events include weddings, corporate events, private parties, retreats, conferences, exhibitions, workshops and receptions.
