Overview
Thirlestane Castle is a 16th-century castle in Lauder, set within the Lauderdale Estate in the Scottish Borders. It was the historic home of the Duke of Lauderdale and the Maitland family for more than 400 years and now operates as a charitable trust. Interiors feature historic plasterwork ceilings, family portraits and collections presented through guided tours. Events can take place in the State Rooms.
The estate combines indoor and outdoor space with gardens, parkland, parking and views over the grounds. Accommodation is available in individually decorated suites for groups of up to 16, while Woodland Lodges provide another option for stays. Thirlestane Castle hosts weddings, corporate events, private parties and photoshoots, with catering and activities including country pursuits, horse riding, fishing on the Tweed, spa experiences and afternoon tea.
