12th-Century Castle with Fenced Park in Calenzano, Tuscany

In Calenzano, in the province of Florence, this 12th-century castle brings together a fortified Tuscan past and the more measured life of a historic stately home. Set within a fenced park of 1.6 hectares, it is defined by a long change of purpose: conceived to defend a route linking the city with the Mugello valley, it was transformed from a military site into a residence in 1300.
